Boston sports fans are among the most passionate in the world. The Globe wanted to create a new mobile-focused sports experience on the web that would immerse fans in the action and give them deeper insights into what happens on the field.
The new team pages for the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins launched in May 2016 along with a redesigned article page, bringing a new navigation scheme, full-width images and a new set of programmable information graphics that gave reporters and editors new tools to tell the story of a game, or a season.
In my role as design lead, I created an early prototype that informed key features in the release version. I worked closely with developers, product managers and fellow designers to translate the early vision into a complete microsite.
