Could you run a marathon in these shoes?

As the Globe began planning its Boston Marathon coverage, I suggested that we focus on the one piece of equipment that every runner, from elites to beginners, needs: shoes.

We produced three pieces: one about the history of marathon shoes, another focusing on the relationship between runners and their shoes, and a third where we asked the elites to tell us about their shoes.

I designed and implemented all three pieces, and contributed art direction and editing.
